Program Overview

The Cosmetology Year 2 Honors program is designed to provide students with advanced training and experiences that prepare them for successful completion of the South Carolina State licensing examination and entry into the professional beauty industry. Building upon foundational skills developed in Year 1, students refine their knowledge and technical abilities in the science and artistry of cosmetology, including advanced hair design, haircutting, haircolor, chemical texture services, skincare, nail care, and salon procedures.

Through rigorous theory instruction and hands-on application, students expand their understanding of anatomy, physiology, chemistry, bacteriology, infection control, and product knowledge while performing services on mannequins and live models. Students develop advanced technical skills, critical thinking, client communication, professionalism, and business practices required for success in a modern salon environment.

The Honors component provides opportunities for enrichment through industry engagement, advanced projects, leadership experiences, career exploration, and the application of professional standards. Students strengthen their preparation for licensure while developing the confidence, creativity, and workplace skills needed to become successful cosmetology professionals.
