Golden Strip Child Development Center Pre-K Special Education Syllabus
2025/2026 School Year
Pre-K Special Education Program Goal
The overall goal of our Preschool Special Education Program is to improve children's understanding of the world and to strengthen their desire to continue learning. Developmentally appropriate, intellectually challenging learning opportunities are planned to help students meet state and district learning standards as well as their individual education goals as described in their Individualized Education Programs.
Description of Students Being Taught
Each student enrolled in a Preschool Special Education class has an Individualized Education Program (IEP) designed specifically to meet the needs of that particular child. Students may qualify for the preschool special education program due to delays in one or more of the following areas: communication (speech), self-help (adaptive), motor (fine and gross), social/emotional, and/or academic readiness (cognition).
Assessment/Evaluation of Student Progress
Evidence for assessment will include the following sources:
-IEP data monitoring
-IEP progress reports
-Anecdotal records based on teacher observation and
checklists
-Work samples
-myIGDIs Literacy and Numeracy Assessment
-Brigance Early Learning Inventory
-STAR Learning Profile
-4K Report Card
Home/School Connection
The Preschool Special Education program supports the development of children as lifelong learners through partnerships with each child's home and family. Parents are encouraged to email and call when they have any questions, concerns, or just have something they want to talk about regarding their student. Additionally, there is a classroom Seesaw account where photos will be shared, and each family receives IEP meetings held (at least) annually and student work samples sent home.
Building Responsible and Respectful Behavior
The Preschool Special Education Program's goals build self-discipline, respect for others, and develop individual responsibility. Clear and consistent expectations and routines provide a framework for responsible student behavior and will be modeled and reviewed as needed.
Classroom Expectations
Be kind to others.
Be kind to yourself.
Be kind to your things.
Procedures for Non-Instructional Routines
Parents are required to notify the teacher and school office with any address/phone number changes. It is very important that we can reach you in case of an emergency. Car/bus tags are required to be displayed when you collect your child from school or off the bus. If you need more tags, please come to the office to collect them. If you (or your designee) do not have the required tag, you will be required to show a photo ID.
We ask that your child bring his/her bookbag daily. Please check your child's bag daily for your child's work, school information, etc.
The only required supplies are a bookbag, a water bottle, a change of clothes (top, bottom, underwear, and socks), and pull-ups (if needed). If your child needs a clothing change, we will send the wet or dirty clothes home in a plastic bag, and you will know to send more clean clothing.
If you would like to send in treats for your child's birthday, only commercially prepared products can be given out at school (nothing homemade). Additionally, due to an allergy, we cannot accept anything with grapes.
I know that this will be an incredible year of learning and joy, and I am so happy to be a part of these student's lives. Each one is such a gift, and I look forward to continuing to serve them to the best of my ability!
