What Is a School Counselor?
School counselors are highly qualified educators who address the needs of the whole child - social, emotional, academic, and career - in order to help them be happy, healthy, and successful citizens. The core focus of school counseling is to advocate for, listen to, and meet the needs of each individual student. This is accomplished through a comprehensive school program where students are served through individual counseling, small-group lessons, core classroom curriculum, and responsive services.

The mission of the school counseling program at Grove Elementary is to provide a comprehensive, data-driven approach addressing the academic, career, and social/emotional needs of every student. The counselor ensures a safe and supportive environment, prioritizing behavior and crisis prevention to foster resilience and positive behavior. By collaborating with parents, teachers, administration, and the community, the counselor prepares students for current and future success.
