Q: When does the FAFSA open this year?
A: Starting on October 1, the Department will release the 2025-26 FAFSA form for testing with a limited set of students and postsecondary institutions. The agency will make the FAFSA form available to all students on or before December 1.
Q: What about next year?
A: The Department of Education has said they intend to return to the October 1st opening date in 2025.
Q: What if my parents make too much?
A: Don't assume you aren't eligible, almost every student is eligible for some form of financial aid!
Q: When can I make my FSA ID for a student/or parent?
A: You can request this ID now! It is recommended that you create this ID 3-5 days before you fill out the FAFSA. Both parents may need an FSA ID.
