Juniors and seniors who have attended Mauldin High School for at least a semester, have obtained a minimum of a 4.5 GPA, AND who have never been part of the MHS chapter of NHS are eligible to apply for admission to the chapter. Students who have been dismissed from NHS or have resigned their membership are not eligible to apply for re-admittance to the chapter.
Eligible students will receive an invitation to apply to NHS in September. These students will receive the invitation via their school email accounts.
Within the invitation to join NHS, students will find a join code for a Google Classroom specifically established to complete the application process. The Google Classroom contains detailed instructions on how to complete the application process. The entire process will be completed electronically.
The application will involve the student explaining how he / she demonstrates three of the pillars of NHS: character, leadership, and service.
The application must be completed in its entirety by 2 weeks after the applications were sent.
Students will be notified in October via their school email whether their application was accepted or denied.
Students who are admitted to the MHS chapter of NHS are expected to participate in an Induction Ceremony. Those students accepted into NHS will receive instructions on how to participate in the ceremony.
To continue to be members in good standing, students admitted to NHS are expected to pay annual dues of $20 through MySchoolBucks and complete service hours each semester. Seniors are expected to complete a service project as part of their service hours.
Students who are transferring to Mauldin High School and were members of NHS at their previous school should contact one of the advisers to move their membership to this chapter. Contact information for the advisers is listed below.
