GCS Advanced Academic Programs - Gifted and TalentedPurpose and Overview

In Grades 3-5, identified gifted students can participate in a pull-out program called Challenge. Students must meet state GT criteria to participate in Challenge classes.

Every GCS elementary school offers the Challenge program with instruction delivered via a GT certified elementary teacher.

MAP testing will now occur in August beginning with the 2026-2027 school year.

If your child is enrolled in a Greenville County School, you may still request re-evaluation via MAP with your school's GT teacher or test administrator. The MAP window will be open August 13-31. MAP scores will be used as part of the GT identification process as well as for re-evaluation for the Charles Townes Center Program.
