About Me

The 2023-2024 school year will be my 18th year teaching at Riverside Middle School and my 20th year teaching middle school ELA.

I have been a resident of Greenville since 2006. I have two beautiful daughters -- Mallee (a current tenth grader) and Tinsley (a current seventh grader). My husband, Todd, works for Mohr Capital. Our favorite things to do are watch baseball (Go Braves!), watch a lot of football (Go Buckeyes!), and spend time at the beach and outdoors.  We also spend a lot of time at dance competitions, basketball games, and soccer games cheering on our girls.

I grew up in the mountains of Waynesville, North Carolina. While I love visiting family and the mountains, I absolutely love living in Greenville. I feel like a good ol' country girl living the city life. :)

I graduated from Western Carolina University with a degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, and Middle-Level Language Arts. In addition to teaching seventh grade for 19 years, I have experience in teaching first, third, and fifth grades. This is my first year teaching sixth grade! My passion is definitely middle grades!

More about me:

I LOVE baseball and football!

I cheer for the Braves (MLB) and the Buckeyes (College Football)

I hate watching basketball (unless it's my youngest playing) but LOVE playing it. I will meet you in the gym whenever you want! :)

I'm a HUGE Ohio State fan!

Zaxby's is my favorite fast food restaurant.

I have 46 first cousins!

My birthday is in October.

Easter is my favorite holiday.

Summer is my favorite season of the year.

Mexican food is my favorite type of food; Italian is a very close second.

I tried out for American Idol - the year Carrie Underwood won. Obviously I didn't go anywhere with it. :(

I love the beach but really dislike the lake.

I HATE snakes and detest spiders, and I am known to overreact when I see one or the other.
