Hi and welcome to 7th grade!  My name is Kristi Mathis, and I teach ELA here at Riverside Middle School.  I have been teaching here since we opened our doors in 1999.  I graduated from Carson Newman University and loved my time in East Tennessee and go back to visit as much as possible! 

I have been married for 33 years to my college sweetheart, J.J. We have three daughters (Jordan, Ross, and Klayton) and four grandsons (Ridge, Shepherd, Jed, and Calhoun) and a brand new grandaughter, Lincoln James. My family LOVES sports, the lake, the beach, and our dogs. I am a huge dog lover-especially my Weimaranier, Memphis!! I am also a big University of Tennessee fan!! I love teaching middle school because it is such a time of discovery for students.  It is so enjoyable watching young people grow and learn about themselves and the world around them.  I look forward to having a wonderful year with my students!
