English IV CP
Welcome!
English IV British Literature is a survey course of epic poems, plays, poetry, novels, historical documents, and speeches. The curriculum focuses on the following skills and learning experiences:
Learning Objectives
Reading - Reflection and Response: Students will reflect upon and respond to print and non-print texts.
Research/Analysis: Students will conduct research and analyze text in order to inform an audience.
Critical Reading: Evaluation: Students will use critical thinking skills to analyze and evaluate text structures and develop and support arguments.
Critical Reading: Analysis: Students will analyze text to gain meaning and synthesize ideas.
Writing: write a variety of compositions based on analytical, argumentative, and expository interpretation of literature. Special emphasis will be given to the development of research skills; the writing of a research paper; the development of presentation skills in conjunction with technology; the development of a complex thesis and emphasis on developing paragraphs to support that thesis
Literary Analysis: Students will analyze and interpret British Literature.
Language: Vocabulary, Grammar, Usage, and Mechanics: Students will apply conventions of grammar and language usage.
These strategies address the ways in which each child learns best, offering multiple opportunities for students to master material. The 21st century learner must master technology, be comfortable with oral presentations, and effectively collaborate with others in order to be prepared for a productive future.
All assignments and information will be posted on Google Classroom. Students will be automatically enrolled in the appropriate Google Classroom.
