Welcome to the Riverside program for Intellectually disabled (Moderate) Self - Contained students. The program is designed to increase the student's level of independence in the class, in the school, at home and in the community. As you will see, if your student is new, we become a very close knit family. The program is not a set program. I plan each student's program according to the IEP, the desires of the student and the desires of the parent.
I have a son age 34 who works at the Spartanburg Chamber of Commerce and a daughter age 30 who graduated from RHS. I also have a granddaughter named Logan who is going into 1st grade. I have 6 dogs Stella, Tubbs, Angel, Cleo, Paco and Roscoe who along with my 5 cats (Callie, JT,, Casey, Annabelle and Chloe) keep me very busy. I attended J.L.Mann High School, Greenville Tech, and Winthrop College. I worked at Camp Spearhead from 1976 until 1989. I began my teaching career at Greer Middle School in January of 1987. I team taught with Mary Stephens in the EMH self-contained program. In August of 1987 I took over the high school trainable program in Anderson District 5 at West Franklin Elementary. In 1990, we moved our class to McDuffie High School. In 1992, I was fortunate enough to start the Intellectually disabled (Moderate) self-contained program here at Riverside High School.
My hobbies are reading crime novels, playing facebook games, working outside in my yard, home projects, my animals and Logan!
I am lucky enough to have 2 great assistants, Tonia Bryant and Zacari Garrett.
