Who is involved in teaching SEL?

School Counselors; however, this is an initiative that involves everyone in the building!



The School Counseling Program at Oakview Elementary is a comprehensive school counseling program.

  • We advocate for students and their care.
  • We consult and collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents.
  • We provide services based on individual needs of the studnts and the school based on the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) standards of academic, social/ personal, and career development.
  • Our program is data driven.

The Counseling Services that we offer are:

  • Classroom Counseling - We suport teachers by teaching social skills, mindfulness, growth mindset, conflict resolution, school success skills, and personal safety.
  • Responsive Services - We meet the immediate needs and concerns of students through individual or small group counseling.
  • Collaboration and Coordination with Community Agencies - We help provide crisis intervention.
