Week of March 2-6, 2026

Hi Families!

Our new letter this week is Q for Quilt. We will learn the sound it makes and things that begin with the /q/ sound. We are still learning about the characteristics of a square shape and finding squares in the real world. We will be working on a “quilt” art project to display in our classroom that is made of squares. I will be sending home a square this week for your child and family to decorate together. Please return the decorated square by the following Monday so we can assemble our quilt on the wall. It will be so creative and beautiful, showcasing something special from each family!

Our book of focus for this month is One Duck Stuck by Phyllis Root. It is a great rhyming and counting book. The duck also has to ask for help from others because he is stuck in the muck. I think the students are going to love this story for many reasons. We will focus on counting 1-10 along with the story, starting with 1 and adding another number each day until we get to 10. We will also learn some new vocabulary in this story starting with Duck, Stuck, and Muck this week.

**We have had lots of students with colds/allergies the past few weeks. Please work with you child on learning to cover nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing. We like to bend our arm and sneeze into our elbow here at school. It covers the mouth and nose, but does not transfer germs to hands and fingers to then spread. Please help us keep everyone well!

Hi Families!

We will learn about the letter R this week. We will learn the sound it makes and things that begin with the /r/ sound. We will make Robots out of squares, which happens to be the shape we are learning about right now!

Our book of focus for this month is I Love You by Jean Marzollo. There are lots of rhyming words. It is also a rebus poem, so there are many pictures in place of words which allows everyone to help me “read” the story. We are learning to listen for words that rhyme and sound a lot alike.

Important Reminders

*Please be sure to check folders daily! Some days there is important or time sensitive information that often requires action.

**Be sure to send a warm coat on cold days. It is important for the kids to get outside and get a bit of fresh air for at least a short recess as long as it is not too cold. We go outside early so it has not had time to warm up.

***Be sure that you are reading with your child daily. It is so valuable to develop early literacy skills and also to enjoy the dedicated time to bond with your child. It will be something you will both treasure. Your little ones are such special and unique individuals. Enjoy these early years, they won’t last long!

Hi Families!

Our book of focus for this month is I Love You by Jean Marzollo. This book is always so much fun for the students. There are lots of rhyming words. February 5-13, 2026

Hi Families!

It was so good to have everyone back at school yesterday! The children seemed happy to see their friends and teachers. I did enjoy the snow, but glad to be back in a routine. We also had a new student join our class yesterday. Welcome Jeiraby!

We will learn about the letter I this week for I Love You. We will learn the sound it makes and things that begin with the /i/ sound. We will also keep working on counting using 1 to 1 correspondence.

If you would like to send valentines for your child to share with classmates on Valentine’s Day, please plan for 15 students. Please do not fill in the “To:” section with a name, just fill in the “From:” section to make it easier for them to hand them out independently. We will help them place one valentine in each bag.

Hi Families!

I hope that everyone had a wonderful winter break and enjoyed some special time with loved ones.

Our book of focus for this month is If You Give a Mouse A Cookie by Felicia Bond and Laura Numeroff. It is a cute story about all the things a mouse might want if he was given a cookie. My students always love this book! There are companion books such as If You Give a Dog a Donut or If You Give a Moose a Muffin that you can watch the read alouds on You Tube or borrow a copy from the public library. They are all really cute books with great illustrations.

We will be reviewing the letters this week that we have learned so far in our weekly letter units, and will learn more about the letter M for Mouse.

We will learn more about circles this week since the cookie in our story is the shape of a circle. As always, we will continue practicing counting and identifying letters and numbers. We will also begin learning about the season of Winter and things we do and wear in the winter. January will be a full and fun month!

Week of November 25, 2024

-Literacy Unit for November: The Three Bears the version by Paul Galdone.

This past week, our Speech Therapist, Occupational Therapist, and Mrs. Garrison helped present a multi-sensory Goldilocks and the Three Bears story for the class. The students got to experience hot, cold, hard, soft, big and small, and of course “Just Right!”. It was so much fun!

We are wrapping up our Literacy unit for this month. Next month our story will be The Gingerbread Man.

-Family Project:

Class Turkey Display: Our turkey on the wall is BEAUTIFUL! Thanks for creating his feathers! I will post a picture to See Saw for you all to see. Look for another family project for December!

Week of November 18, 2024

-Literacy Unit for November: My Truck is Stuck By Kevin Lewis and Daniel Kirk

The story is about a dump truck that is stuck in a hole. Please look for dump trucks when you are out and about with your child. Also, there is a Jeep, a car, box truck (“Van”) and a school bus who come to the aid of the dump truck. We will be using the story to learn about Rhyming words this week

-Shape Weeks: We will continue learning more about Circles this week. Trevor brought an item in for Circle Show and Tell this past Friday. He brought a light which was in the shape of a circle and shared it with friends.

-Family Projects:

Class Turkey Display: Please return decorated Turkey feathers by tomorrow, if you haven’t already done so. I can add it to our class turkey before I take a photo. I will send a photo of the completed turkey. He is already looking beautiful!

Family Wall: Please provide me with photos of people in your child’s family. We will be making collages of families on Friday to share and display in the class. You do not need to worry about printing the photos, I will be happy to print them here at school. This will be an introductory activity to our Family Unit.

Week of November 10, 2025

Literacy Unit for November: The Three Bears the version by Paul Galdone. This is one version of the classic Golilocks and the Three Bears story. You can find read-alouds os many different versions of this story on You Tube. This week, take opportunities to teach your child the concepts in the story of too hot, too cold, or “just right” in your daily activities.

We will shift gears now from a unit focusing on “Me” and expand it into a unit about Families. We are learning that we are part of a group of people called our family. Thanks to those who sent wonderful family photos. If you have not done so yet, Please send any photos of your family you would like to have displayed in our classroom. It gives our students great pride and comfort to see those people in their lives that make up their family- blood relatives or not! You can email these photos or send them on SeeSaw. You are also welcome to sent printed copies if you prefer-please, no originals. Please indicate names of the persons in the photos, or what your child calls each one. We want a family wall and to incorporate these photos into our lessons for this unit.

Week of Oct 20-25, 2025

Hi Families!

This week will be so much fun! It will be all about Pumpkins! We will focus on the letter P, the color orange, sing songs about pumpkins, draw a pumpkin after experiencing a real one, and create our class pumpkin together. We will even have our very own pumpkin patch to visit here at school!

Our story for this month’s literacy focus is From Head to Toe, by Eric Carle. The children are learning body parts and are also learning to imitate motor actions. There are many songs and read-alouds that you can find on you tube for this story.

I am really enjoying our parent/teacher conferences. I look forward to talking with those of you who have scheduled upcoming appointments! I love getting to share your child’s progress with you.

Hi Families!

Well, I thought the Fall weather was here but it seems like Summer just won’t let go! Please pay attention to the changing temps each day and remember that we go outside at 10:00 am. Please make sure that your child has a jacket when needed.

Parent/Teacher conferences are going well. If you have not received an invitation with the date and time of our conference, please let me know. I hope that I didn’t miss anyone who signed up for a conference appointment.

Week of Oct 6-10, 2025

Hi Families!

Last week we learned that there are different types of apples. We tasted Red Delicious, Pink Lady, and Granny Smith apples. Almost all of the students liked the Red Delicious and Pink Lady apples, but only a few seemed to like the granny smith. Sweet over sour seemed to be the favorites! This week we will learn about the things we see in the Fall such as pumpkins and leaves. We will also keep focusing out the All About Me theme. I will be sending home an activity that will help us to learn more about each child. Look for that soon!

I have scheduled the parent teacher conferences based on the dates and time that you returned to me. I will be sending invitations with your scheduled time this week. I am looking forward to sharing all of the progress that your child has made as we have gotten started in our school year.

Hi Families!

This week we will be learning a lot about apples! We will be doing all of our academic activities around the theme of apples! We have also been learning about our 5 senses, so we will use our senses to experience apples. We will be tasting red, yellow, and green apples this week. Everyone will get the chance to decide which one they like best. Next week, I will let you know in this newsletter which one we liked the most in our class!

Week of September 22-26, 2025

Hi Families!

I am so happy to be back at school! I am so grateful to Mrs. Oliver and Mrs. Rogers for everything they did while I was gone! I was so amazed at the progress the students made over the 2 weeks I was gone. Circle time has been amazing! The students have really settled in and are so engaged during this instructional time!

***We will continue our introduction to the alphabet. We will be introducing a letter a day, and then we will go back and spend a longer period of time on each letter learning to identify the letters, form the letters, write the letters and hopefully, some of the students will learn the letter sounds! If your child already can do those things, this will be a review and we will challenge them further! We are also working on counting using one to one correspondence to count out a given number 1-5. The students matched little bears to bears on a template to count bears and trace the numbers with their fingers.

-I will be making appointments for Fall parent-teacher conferences which are held in the month of October. I will be providing a sign-up sheet soon! Some of you signed up at open house, but I will send available times to those who were not able to attend so you can choose a time.

Hi Families!

I will be returning to school this Thursday, Sept. 18 and I couldn’t be happier! I have missed being in the classroom so much.

-Thanks to those who have joined my class SeeSaw app. I hope you have enjoyed the easy communication. Mrs. Oliver has also been added as a teacher so she has been able to connect with you this past week. If you have not joined the app yet, I strongly encourage you to do so. If you need any help from me, just let me know!

Hi Families!

I hope that everyone enjoyed the long holiday weekend! It certainly was a beautiful weekend as far as the weather goes! Hope you all got to enjoy some outside time with your children.

Color Days: Our color days have been lots of fun so far! We will continue with them this week as well.

Here are the colors:

Tuesday Sept 2: Purple

Wednesday Sept 3: Pink

Thursday Sept 4: Black

Friday Sept 5: Brown

***Next Monday Sept 8 will be the day to wear your favorite color. I would also like for your child to bring an item that is their favorite color to have a show and share time with the class. These items will be returned if you want however, please do not send an item that will cause your child to have a bad night if we accidentally forget to send it that day. If you prefer, you can make a short video and email it to me that we can share.

**Important: Please, if you have not already done so, use the QR code I sent to join the SeeSaw app. Some of you have already been using it for easier communication. I am sending home another code in the folder.

Week of Aug 25-29, 2025

Hi Families!

The first week with everyone together was wonderful! Big improvements were already seen in just a few days. The children are becoming familiar with routines and with their surroundings. They are also enjoying getting to know each other as they are learning how to share, take turns, and keep hands to self. I am seeing so many positive interactions between them!

Color Days: We will be doing a lot of activities each day to focus on the color of the day. We will make collages, play with playdoh, and even have different colors of snacks. Please help your children find some things in your home each day in the color of the day. Please see the flier that was sent home last week for more details.

Week of Aug 18-22, 2025

Hi Families!

What a great start to school we have had! The staggered schedule allowed us to really have time with your child to help them learn routines and to get to know them. We have already learned that we have a precious group of kiddos! I think they all enjoyed their first days. We have started our first themed unit “Welcome to School”. The students are learning each others’ names, and to recognize their own. The students are also beginning to understand classroom routines and getting to know each other.

Color Review Days: We will begin a series of days where we will focus on one color a week as a fun was to learn/review colors. We will begin the color days next Monday on August 25.

Each d ay during color review days, we will wear a specific color. This is completely optional. I don’t want anyone to stress or spend money to have something to wear. If your child happens to have the right color for that day, then they can wear it that day if you choose.

Here are a few items to note…

· 4K students: If you have not sent a blanket or towel for your child to rest on, please send one this week.

· The children were able to play outside last week. They enjoyed that a great deal! I have small Please send a water bottle/cup to school each day. As with everything, please label the cups/water bottles with their names. They can get mixed up easily and we don’t want to share cups!
