About Mrs. Horne

My name is Kristi Horne and I have been teaching in Greenville County for 36 years!  Prior to coming to Hillcrest Middle School sixteen years ago, I taught Special Education at the elementary level for 20 years!  I have taught everything from kindergarten (K5) to 8th grade.

I attended Winthrop College, which is now Winthrop University, in Rock Hill.  I majored in Special Education and have taught Special Education for 35 years!  I have loved every minute of my 35 years teaching, especially children with special needs....special needs of any type or any level.

I was born in Simpsonville and I actually attend Hillcrest Middle School.  I am married and have one child.  My daughter's name is Darbi and she  graduated from University of South Carolina and is working in Charlotte for Bank of America.  Her dad and I are just proud she has a full time job!  :)  Darbi   has married my now wonderful son-in-law named Matt Hogan.  Matt is a radio and podcast production manager for the Carolina Panthers.  He has the best office ever....overlooking the Panther stadium.  Matt and Darbi have a sweet little cat named Dexter and a chunky beagle named Beaux!     We are huge Gamecock fans and I love to aggravate those Tigers!  I have an amazing cat name Lickers that you will hear me talked about constantly.  He's a pretty big boy and he loves people.

Coming to Hillcrest Middle School has been the best experience of my teaching career!  The faculty is extremely caring and truly want the best for every child they meet.  I know from first hand experience, my own daughter attended HMS, that there is no better education that can be found than that at Hillcrest Middle School!
