Karen Erickson - English 2 & Yearbook, Riverside High School
I have lived in South Carolina since 1991 after growing up in Ann Arbor, Michigan. I have two sons who were born and raised in Greenville - one is a structural engineer in Greenville, and the other is a graduate of USC and works in electrical sales, also in town. I currently live in Greer with my husband and our menagerie of three dogs and three cats. We live in the country and enjoy being outside, hiking, camping, and spending as much time as possible with our family. My mother also lives in the area and is a big part of our lives.
Prior to becoming a teacher I had several careers, including pharmaceutical sales and personal training, to name a few. I have an enduring love of sports, especially baseball, which my sons played through high school and college. I love yoga, hiking, and outdoor activities of all kinds and am a hobbyist potter with a pottery studio at my home. I came to teaching as a calling in my late 30s, and I am passionate about connecting with and educating young people.
I love teaching, and I love my students, and I hope that comes across clearly. I also teach for the SC Department of Education part time as a virtual teacher and am lucky to teach kids from all over the state through that venue.
I sincerely hope that 2025-26 will be a safe, healthy, and fortuitous school year for all of us. I am here if you have any questions or concerns.
