What do we learn in the library?

According to the American Association of School Libraries, the goal of library instruction is to prepare students for lifelong learning, informed decision-making, a love of reading, and the use of information technologies.

How do we accomplish this goal?

Library lessons are conducted in collaboration with the learning taking place in the classroom. Students learn to be effective users and producers of ideas and information as well as being digital citizens using 21st century skills:collaboration, critical thinking, problem solving, and effectively using technology.

We also work on using and developing soft skills that students will need throughout their years in school and also as they join the workforce: Problem Solving, Critical Thinking, Collaboration, Creativity, Innovation, Teamwork and Work Ethic

21st-Century learners use skills, resources, and tools to:

*Inquire, think critically, and gain knowledge.

*Draw conclusions, make informed decisions, apply knowledge to new situations, and create new knowledge.

*Share knowledge and participate ethically and productively as members of our democratic society.

*Pursue personal and

aesthetic growth.
