English II Honors is designed for academically gifted students in either the 9th or 10th grade who are preparing for Advanced Placement Literature and Language. The course is rigorous and students are expected to read and write outside of class. The emphasis upon close reading, discussion, and writing relies heavily upon an on-time completion of all assignments and on class participation. The course includes a study of World Literature focusing on the works of African, Asian, and South American writers. Students will have a major writing assignment each quarter. Please Note: This course carries Honors GPA weighting.

English III Honors, also designed for academically gifted students, focuses on the literature of the United States especially the foundational works and documents from the 17th century through the early 20th century. This course is for students in the 10th or 11th grade. Course work will also include a focus on argumentative, expository, and narrative writing. Please Note: This course carries Honors GPA weighting.
