Fencing is one of five sports which have been permanent fixtures at the Olympic Games since the first modern Games were held in 1896. Based on sword fighting, fencing demands speed, anticipation, reflexes and outstanding mental strength.
The main goal in fencing is to "touch" (touché in French) your opponent with the scoring part of your sword, while preventing yourself from being touched by your opponent.
Fencing is not just for one specific demographic. It can be life long, intersex, wheelchair, etc. Everyone can participate in fencing!
