Meet the Mental Health Counselor
Hello! I am Ms. Meyers and I am so excited to be the School Mental Health Counselor this year! It will be my 2nd year serving in this role. I graduated from Clemson University in 2022 with an Education Specialist degree and a Master’s degree in Education specializing in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I am licensed as a National Certified Counselor as well as a Licensed Professional Counseling Associate. I currently live in Simpsonville with my miniature goldendoodle, Finley Bean. In my free time, I enjoy playing fetch with my dog, playing board games with friends, and running the Swiftie club at HMS. Please reach out if you have any questions!
Mental Health Information and Resources
What is mental health?
Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make healthy choices.
What is a mental health counselor?
Mental health counselors are licensed professionals who work with individuals, families, and groups in a variety of settings. Mental health counselors work with their clients to establish goals and develop approaches to address emotional issues, develop skills in coping and communication, improve self-esteem, promote changes in behavior, and strive for improved mental well-being.
Are counseling services available at HMS?
Greenville County School District now provides an array of Mental Health Services at designated schools to help students and families improve overall functioning at home, school, and community. This program allows for students and families to receive needed mental health support in the school setting by a qualified Mental Health Professional. To learn more about these services and the referral process, please contact Ms. Meyers at Kmeyers@greenville.k12.sc.us.
