About the Band
About the Director
David Keller is the Director of Bands at Greer High School in Greer, South Carolina. Originally from Charleston, SC, he attended Furman University earning a Bachelors Degree in Music, and then he attended the American Band College where he earned a Masters degree in Wind Band Conducting.
From 2011-2022 Mr. Keller was the Band Director at J.L. Mann High School in Greenville, SC where he revitalized the band program growing the program from 12 members to near 100. The marching band was a finalist in the SCBDA 4A Championships in 2018 and made their debut in 5A in 2021.The program consistently produced All-County, All-Region, and All-State players as well as Superior Ratings at SCBDA Concert Performance Assessment. Under Mr. Keller’s direction, the program earned the SCBDA Outstanding Performance Award in 2016 and in 2021.
Mr. Keller’s professional affiliations include NAfME and Phi Mu Alpha. He lives with his wife Michelle and corgi, Ginny in the Greenville area.
What we offer...
Marching Band
The Greer G-Force has had a long history of excellence and success. The G-Force has received numerous awards at local and state contests, and have received Superior ratings at the SCBDA 3A Upper State and State Finals Marching Championships in for the past several years. In 2021 the Greer G-Force advanced to the SCBDA Marching Championship Finals, placing 5th in the state. The band plays at all Greer football home games, pep rallies, the Greenville Poinsettia Parade, local competitions and state competitions.
Concert Band
The Greer Symphonic Winds is the top concert performance ensemble at Greer HS. The band performs multiple concerts a year, including the SCBDA Concert Performance Assessment held in the spring. Rehearsals are after school, one day a week.
Winter Ensembles
Students wishing to continue skills such as dance and color guard throughout the year are encouraged to participate in the winter ensembles. Similar to marching band, but held through the winter months. Rehearsals are after school and competitions are on Saturdays.
