David is the Director of Bands at Greer High School in Greer, South Carolina. Originally from Charleston, SC he attended Furman University, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Music, and then he attended the American Band College, where he earned a Master's degree in Wind Band Conducting.
From 2011-2022, Mr. Keller was the Band Director at J.L. Mann High School in Greenville, SC, where he revitalized the band program, growing the program from 12 members to nearly 100. The marching band was a finalist in the SCBDA 4A Championships in 2018 and made their debut in 5A in 2021. The program consistently produced All-County, All-Region, and All-State players, as well as Superior Ratings at the SCBDA Concert Performance Assessment. Under Mr. Keller’s direction, the program earned the SCBDA Outstanding Performance Award in 2016 and 2021.
Since starting at Greer the Greer bands have consistently earned Superior Ratings in marching band and and symphonic band. The program has earned the SCBDA Outstanding Performance Award every year since 2021. This is the highest award a band can receive in the state of South Carolina.
Mr. Keller’s professional affiliations include NAfME and Phi Mu Alpha. He lives with his wife, Michelle, son Brian, and corgi, Ginny, in the Greenville area.
