Biology 1 is a South Carolina state-required, End-of-Course (EOC) tested course that introduces students to foundational concepts in life science. Throughout the year, students study cell division, photosynthesis, macromolecules, cellular respiration, the carbon cycle, ecology, genetics, and biological evolution.
This is a rigorous, fast-paced course that requires consistent effort. Students are expected to attend class regularly, stay focused, complete assignments on time, and actively participate in labs and learning activities. With dedication and strong study habits, students will build a solid foundation for future science courses.
Biology 1 is a rigorous, End-of-Course (EOC) tested class in South Carolina. Students who are organized, focused, and consistent are most successful.
To be successful in Biology 1, students should:
Attend class regularly and arrive on time
Stay focused and participate in class activities, labs, and discussions
Complete all assignments and turn work in on time
Study regularly, not just before tests
Ask questions and seek help when needed
Students will learn through:
Hands-on laboratory investigations
Interactive lessons and group activities
Reading, writing, and problem-solving tasks
Test and EOC-style practice questions
I am committed to helping every student succeed. Extra help, review materials, and feedback are provided throughout the year. Students are encouraged to communicate with me and take advantage of available support opportunities. Trojan time is available in the Media Center on Tuesdays and Thursdays both before and after school for additional help.
Assignments will be posted in Google Classroom.
Students are encouraged to check thier grades frequently in Backpack.
