School Mental Health Counselor/Student Support Specialist
Hey there! I'm Ms. Fowler and I serve as the School Mental Health Counselor at Greer Middle School.
This is my 11th school year with Greer Middle providing mental health services. I love this job and being able to help children and families navigate through whatever difficulties they may be facing. I fully support school mental health because it meets kids where they are, right at school, to avoid added stressors of transportation and attendance issues.
I am a native of Greer; I attended Greer Middle School and graduated from Greer High School! I attended the University of South Carolina where I received my Bachelors of Science in Experimental Psychology with a minor in African American Studies and then went to Webster University where I received my Masters of Arts in Mental Health Counseling. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I am a Certified ADHD Clinical Services Provider (ADHD-CCSP), Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist (ASDCS), and certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).
I have a 11 year old daughter and in my free time, I enjoy attending concerts, traveling, and spending time with my family.
Being a child/adolescent with life issues is hard enough, but going through them alone or unsupported is even harder. You are not your symptoms and you are not alone. Beginning therapy is a powerful investment in yourself. Whether you are struggling with depression, anxiety, or other life challenges, I will provide a safe, supportive, and accepting space for you to explore your emotions, learn from your experiences, and create a more balanced and fulfilling life. I embrace a person-centered approach to therapy, where each person I see understands they are valuable, and in a judgment-free place to learn to help themselves.
Interventions are often a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), play therapy, talk therapy, and psychoeducation.
