Care
General Guidelines for Care of Chromebooks.
Students can set their own background on their Google browser. Backgrounds should be school appropriate and not animated – animated backgrounds drain the battery much faster.
Students should always carry the Chromebooks with two hands and not by the screen. Often, if they carry it by the screen, they are pressing hard on the LCD screen and it will cause the LCD to break. Carrying it with two hands will help to prevent screen damage.
Students should not push the Chromebook screen all the way back so that it is flat. They often do this in order to trace an image on the screen (which they also should not do because it will involve pressing down on the screen and will break the LCD screen). Pushing the screen back so that the computer is laid out flat will cause the hinges to break.
Students should not pop the screen frame on and off the computer. This will cause wear and tear to the computer which will result in damages.
Chromebooks should be plugged in at night to charge. The charging port is on the side of the Chromebook.
Students are not allowed to do anything on their Chromebooks that their teachers have not specifically asked/told them to do. This includes games, YouTube, websites that aren’t for class, etc. Students who are off-task on the Chromebook will be given a discipline consequence. If students are watching YouTube constantly on their computers, they will drain the computer’s battery and it will not last the whole school day. School Chromebooks are not to be used for non-educational purposes at home or at school.
Students should not use their Chromebooks for listening to music or for charging their cell phones. Students should not download things to their Chromebook or add extensions/apps unless they are instructed to do so by their teacher.
Students should not deface the Chromebook. They should not draw on it, color the keys, etc.
