Lindsay Beaman, Mauldin High School- Through a collaboration with the Government Teachers, Instructional Technology Specialist and myself we created a virtual field trip to the SC State House. We did this, as the students weren't allowed to go on the actual field trip this year. We did this as a part of the State Government unit. The students visited different stations where they learned about different parts of legislature. One station, even featured videoed messages and stories from their current state representatives. The students concluded the class by taking an interactive 3D tour of the State House for a scavenger hunt through the "marked" areas. (A great big thank you to Senator Ross Turner, Senator Scott Talley, and Representative Garry Smith for sending personalized videos to our students.)
Gaelyn Jenkins, Riverside Middle School - We have a page of Virtual Adventures (virtual field trips). We did Virtual Spring Break adventures last year, and I expanded into Travel Tuesdays after that, since we got great feedback from teachers and students. Most content is connected to standards, but some stuff is just fun! I included maker activities in several, and book suggestions too! The original idea came from Kilmer Middle School Library in Virginia, and I collaborated with Patti Barker at Bryson on some of the days, too.
I also created a choice board of Math Virtual Field Trips for our teachers in the virtual school.
