Strings (AKA: Orchestra) class is a year-round class offered to students starting in the 6th grade. You must sign up in 6th grade, as you cannot join in 7th or 8th grade. Students get to learn their choice of violin, viola, cello, or bass and you do not need to have any prior musical experience to succeed in this class. We play a lot of music games in class to help us learn to read music and play our instruments and we also have many concerts and field trips to fun places like Carowinds! Students with prior experience playing a string instrument are welcome to join and audition for advanced performing groups and help serve as mentors for beginning students in their class. Signing up for Strings is a perfect way to make new friends as you start middle school and be a part of something great!
