Students will be given approximately five minutes at the beginning and end of class to change clothes, organize their belongings, and use the restroom if needed.
Changing clothes for PE is optional. Students may change into school-appropriate athletic clothing, but a PE uniform is not required.
Appropriate athletic shoes are required for participation in Physical Education. Students must wear tennis shoes, running shoes, or other secure athletic sneakers. Boots, sandals, flats, Crocs, Sperry-style shoes, and similar footwear are not permitted for PE activities. Each day a student does not wear appropriate athletic shoes, the student will not be allowed to participate and will lose 10 points from the daily participation grade.
Students who choose to change should go directly to their assigned area, change promptly, and prepare for class.
Using a locker and lock is optional. Students may check out a lock to use on a locker for the semester, but they are not required to do so.
Any school-issued lock must be returned at the end of the semester. A $5 fine will be charged for a lost or unreturned lock.
Students who prefer not to use a locker or lock may bring their clothing and personal belongings to and from PE each day.
Students who choose to use a locker should place their clothing, PE materials, and personal belongings inside before leaving the locker room.
Students should ask a classmate for help if they are having difficulty opening a lock. If the problem continues, they should speak with their coach.
Electronic devices may not be used during PE or in the locker room. Phones should remain put away and should not be visible. Having a phone out will result in the consequences established by the school.
Students should remain near their assigned locker or seating area unless they are using the restroom or have permission from a coach.
Restroom stalls should not be used as changing rooms.
Students may not turn on or use the showers.
Food and drinks are not allowed in the locker room.
Perfume, body spray, hairspray, aerosol deodorant, and similar products may not be used in the locker room. Stick deodorant is encouraged.
Students should place all trash in the appropriate trash cans.
Lost-and-found items should be placed on the designated table under the whiteboard or turned in to a coach.
Students must walk while in the locker room and use a classroom-level voice. The locker room is still part of the school building and is not an activity area.
Lockers must be closed gently. Students who damage or deface a locker may receive disciplinary consequences and may be held responsible for the damage.
Students may not leave the locker room until their coach dismisses them.
Once students are ready for class, they should close their lockers, gather their belongings, and sit in their assigned area. The class will enter the gym together when directed.
Upon entering the gym, students should go directly to their assigned seat and sit down.
At the end of class, students who choose to change will return to the locker room and change into their school clothes. Students who finish early should sit quietly in their assigned area until dismissed.
All students must wait for their coach to dismiss them before leaving the locker room or PE area.
