I have currently worked as a high school English teacher for 12 years. I am truly excited about my sixth year at Eastside. This year I will be teaching English IV CP, English III Honors, and Broadcast Journalism I, 2, and Honors. I am extremely passionate about increasing my students' enjoyment, appreciation, love, and knowledge of literature and history because I truly believe that our world can be made better with the help of more empathetic, intelligent, and tolerant young citizens.
I have now been consistently climbing both in indoor climbing gyms and outdoor climbing areas for about eight or nine years. I started climbing during my last year at Clemson University because I had friends who were starting to get into the sport, and we also had access to a free climbing facility through the university's gym. Since then, climbing has only become an even bigger part of my life. I have spent many weekends and vacations traveling with my wife, friends, and now family to climbing areas all over the southeast like the New River Gorge in West Virginia, the Red River Gorge in Kentucky, and the Obed Wild and Scenic river in Tennessee. I have spent a few years now coaching the local climbing team at Climb@BlueRidge, and I have established and worked with climbing clubs at my previous high school and EHS. Climbing is a complicated and multi-faceted sport, and there is really just too much for me to cover here, so if you'd like to learn more, check out the page on my website about the EHS Rock Climbing Club or come ask me in person!
