Grading and Rubric
The art students are busy inquiring about various artists, cultures, and art techniques. Students are researching through the Internet, interviews, the library, and books in the art room. Discoveries are being made through art discussions and critiques.
Below is the grading scale for art. Please read over this rubric carefully. Refer to the second rubric to see further detail of how students will be evaluated for their participation.

P = Progressing towards standards
Art Rubric for Visual Art Assignments
(20% of quarterly grade)
M = Meets standards
-Student demonstrates an understanding of concepts for the unit or lesson and applies them in the work.
-Student plans work carefully with an awareness of the appropriate elements and/or principles of design.
-Student makes connections to previous knowledge and demonstrates excellent problem solving skills.
-Student demonstrates good craftsmanship.
-Student creates original, creative work.
P = Progressing towards standards
-Student is progressing towards understanding concepts for the unit or lesson and applies them in the work.
-Student is progressing towards planning work carefully with an awareness of the appropriate elements and/or principles of design.
-Student is progressing towards making connections to previous knowledge and demonstrates excellent problem solving skills.
-Student is progressing towards showing good craftsmanship.
-Student is progressing towards creating original, creative work.

Student stays on task most of the time.

At Sara Collins, we believe that concepts, knowledge, and skills are essential in our world. It is also vital that we focus on the development of positive attitudes towards people, towards the environment, and towards learning. A class participation assessment will have a direct impact on their quarterly art grade.
