My name is the Honorable Theodore Darid Mauro Ph.D.
Hello and welcome to my About Me page! A little about me - I was born in Point Pleasant, New Jersey. I have a BA in History with minors in Political History and Philosophy from Elon University in Elon, NC. I have a MEd from Clemson University in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Special Education (EBD).
Following the events of 9/11, I was commissioned a Captain in the South Carolina State Guard where I was the XO in the SCSG Provost Marshall Command, was promoted to Major, trained in civilian and military police skills and was a trainer for DHS and attended HOT classes at the FEMA Center for Domestic Preparation in Anniston AL.
Following my time with the Provost Marshal's Office I was promoted to Lt. Colonel and was assigned to the Civil Affairs attachment with the 2nd Highland Brigade. In this role I was the Americorps representative at Clemson University. I was given an honorable discharge on Dec. 7, 2022 after 18 years of service.
In 2007 I was awarded a PhD from Clemson University in Education Administration with a focus on Education Law and a cognate in Political Science and Public Administration. Following my graduation, I worked at the US Department of Education in Washington, DC during the Bush Administration and was a visiting scholar with the McClain Association for Children in the Republic of Georgia where I trained Peace Corps staff, assisted United Nations Development Projects and provided support in the Republic of Georgia where I provided draft legislation for their constitution on education for all. Following my return to the USA I have continued my Post - Doctorate work at the UGA School of Politics and was an advisor the the Street Law 2024 Street Law Teacher Amicus Group in preparation for the release of the 11th Edition of Street Law: A Course in Practical Law.
Presently, other than being the law instructor at the Greenville High Academy of Law, Finance and Business I have and continue to volunteer to support several organizations and government agencies. I was appointed by the State of South Carolina to a term on the Anderson County Board of the Department of Disabilities and Special Needs and I have recently ended a Federal Appointment to the South Carolina Advisory board to the US Commission on Civil Rights ) from 2010 to 2024 where I proudly served as the State Chairman. Among topics of focus included subminimal wages for people with disabilities and civil asset forfeiture.
I am also the Mock Trial team coach
In my spare time I am a consultant in Educational Law Issues., write and study about the American Revolution in South Carolina and take care of my wife (Anna), my stepdaughter (Laura age 15) and our dog (Ashe the wonder dog age 7) and Cat (Puck Mauro - "fly kitty".
