What is the Mentor Upstate Program?

Mentor Upstate is a local organization (founded by Frazee Dream Center) for students who need extra encouragement and support.  Volunteers are matched with a student to visit during the school year.  Mentoring programs have been shown to raise student achievement and academic success, as well as enhance confidence, behavior and self-esteem.

What is the time commitment?

Mentors are asked to commit 30 minutes per week (for the duration of the school year) to meet with the student at Bethel Elementary.  Visits take place during lunch (or breakfast in some cases).

What are the requirements to be a mentor?

Mentors must participate in a one-hour training session to prepare and educate them for their role (see training dates below).  In addition, a mentor must be cleared as a Level II volunteer as required by Greenville County Schools.
