I am a highly qualified teacher with a Bachelor of Art degree in Art Education and a Masters Degree in Elementary Education, both from Converse College. I taught in Spartanburg District 7 for eight years before moving to Greenville County Schools. I am starting my twentieth year of teaching art education in SC and twelfth year at Westcliffe.
Originally from Woodruff, SC, I married into a Clemson family and enjoy cheering on the Tigers. My husband, daughter, two Havapoos, and I reside in Greer.
My schedule takes me to two different elementary schools throughout the week. On Thursdays and Fridays I travel to Lake Forest Elementary School as part of their second related arts team. On Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays I am home based at Westcliffe Elementary School.
My philosophy includes the belief that every student can learn with mutual respect and trust when they are accepted for who they are in their educational journey. Art Education provides students new ways to communicate, learn, and make connections in school, society, and life through new perspectives, imagination and creativity. Art Education equips students with the visual art tools necessary in today's rapidly evolving digital culture.
