I was born and raised in the Greenville area, and attended schools in the Greenville County School District through the end of high school. After graduating from high school, I attended the University of South Carolina, where I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education. I continued college and graduated with my Master's of Education Degree in Language and Literacy in 2008. I taught first grade for 5 years, 2nd grade for 5 years, and this is my 9th year teaching kindergarten!
I am highly qualified in Language and Literacy as well as Early Childhood Education.
My best friend proposed to me in my classroom 15 years ago, and we got married on December 8, 2012. We have two daughters. Emma turned eleven in July and Harper turned nine at the end of May. Emma is a 6th grader and Harper is in 4th grade! We are enjoying every moment with them! We love trying out new restaurants, spending time with family at the lake, hiking, and hanging out with friends.
Mrs. Sestito's Teaching Philosophy
I believe that every child has the ability and deserves a chance to learn in a safe, loving environment that can push them to achieve their maximum potential. I believe in instilling a love for reading in children at a young age. You can travel anywhere in a book. I believe that education is the ticket out of poverty. A ticket to a better job. A way out. A way to stop the cycle. A way to put an end to racism. Ultimately, it is a way for children to empower themselves with the confidence, communication skills, historical knowledge and problem solving abilities needed to make their mark, and make this world a better place.
