Course Description:
As an entry level class, Crafts will explore creating art using many various art materials. Each project students create will be based on using a new set of materials and a variety of techniques. In this course, students will explore the use of crafts materials as well as use traditional fine art materials such as markers, paint, and colored pencils. Crafts students will experience producing both two & three-dimensional works. Students will learn the basics of mask making, printmaking (gelli prints), papier mache, paper quilling, recycled art, cultural mandalas, and mosaics, as well as how to manipulate and dye fabrics and papers to use for projects.
*Students will earn one Fine Art Carnegie-unit for completing Crafts with a score of 60 or better.
*With teacher approval, you will be eligible for Art 2 and Ceramics after successfully completing Crafts.
Students will averagely complete one major assignment every two weeks, in class. Each major assignment will be accompanied by 3-6 minor assignments. Students will earn one Fine Art Carnegie-unit for completing Art 1 with a score of 60 or better.
Art Fee: Students will be required to pay a $15 Art fee. This fee will be used to purchase supplies needed to create the projects within the course (i.e. canvas, print block, acrylic paint, paint brushes, etc.). This can be paid on school bucks link ---> Paying online or by cash in person. Students can bring the $15 cash with them to class, a receipt will be given.
