This course is a study of ceramic art and 3D design through the use of clay. Students will spend time exploring the hand-building techniques of pinch, coil, slab, and press-molding with emphasis on imagery and design. Forms are approached from the simple to the complex. Students will also have the opportunity to explore alternative materials and create 3D mixed media sculptures. Students enrolled in level 2 or 3 ceramics will gain a continued learning of working with clay and build upon current knowledge.
Students will averagely complete one major assignment every two weeks, in class. Each major assignment will be accompanied by 3-6 minor assignments. Students will earn one Fine Art Carnegie-unit for completing Art 1 with a score of 60 or better.
