Erin's Law, passed in South Carolina in 2014, requires public schools to provide training in personal safety and abuse prevention. Lessons were developed by the S.C. Department of Education and are delivered to the students by the school counselor, usually between Thanksgiving and Winter breaks. The lesson in every grade emphasizes identifying a trusted adult whom the students can report to if necessary. See the Classroom Counseling page for schedule in your child's grade, which includes the week for the Erin's Law lesson.Â
