Classrooms are a place for learning, and cell phones are often a distraction. Students miss valuable instructional time due to cell phone usage. For these reasons, Coach Castillo has adopted a cell phone usage policy within the classroom. The use of cell phones, wireless earbuds, and other smartphone devices is prohibited during the instructional class period. The following guidelines will be implemented within the classroom…

1. Phones are to remain either face down on their desk area or put away until all instruction and work has been completed.

2. Students are not allowed to use their phones in the classroom without teacher permission. If an emergency arises during the class period, please contact the front office at 864-355-1800.

3. Students are not permitted to use wireless or wired headphones in the classroom without teacher permission. Use of wireless headphones without teacher permission will follow consequences below.

4. If your student needs to have their phone due to a medical condition, please indicate in the space at the bottom of the page. Please note, that the phone will be used for medical purposes ONLY and not for texts/calls during the class period. If a student is using his/her cell phone for purposes other than the medical condition indicated, the consequences below will be enforced.

In the event that one of the cell phone rules is violated, the following consequences will be enforced…

1. Verbal Warning (students get one and only one warning!)

2. First and Second Offense: Student will be asked to place his/her phone in their personal bookbag/purse/bag/etc.and will not be allowed to retrieve it until the end of class.  Refusal will result in lunch detention and parent contact.

3. Third Offense: Student will keep their phone in their bookbag/purse/bag/etc. for one week. Lunch detention will be assigned with parental contact. Refusal will result in automatic referral.

4. Fourth Offense and Beyond: Referral with parental contact
