Welcome to my site! My name is Ethan Cox, and I am in my twelfth year teaching science. I grew up on the west side of Spartanburg, and I went to James F. Byrnes High School. After high school, I attended Clemson University. I graduated from Clemson University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental and Natural Resources. After my undergraduate degree, I went straight into graduate school for a Master of Science degree in Plant and Environmental Sciences with an emphasis in environmental chemistry. During graduate school, I completed research on the removal of radioactive iodine isotopes from groundwater using common soil minerals such as alumina and kaolinite. I worked as a researcher, but then I realized that research is not where I wanted to be, and I chose to change career paths and become a teacher!
This is my twelfth year of teaching. I have taught everything from biology to environmental science to physical science. I taught Clean Energy Technology for two years since the Innovation's Center opening. I taught at Eastside High School for 7 years and Seneca High School for 2 years. One of my biggest passions is to encourage students to use science to think about the world around them in a new way!
I got married to my beautiful wife Xaymara Correa Cruz three years ago. We met when we were both teachers at Eastside. She taught Spanish there for five years. We have a one year old son named Ezra who keeps us busy!
I also enjoy running, hiking, being outdoors, watching TV, and hanging out with friends and family.
