According to the South Carolina 6th grade science standards, students will participate in hands-on experiments and activities that give them experiences to understand basic science concepts.
Pencils, Color Pencils, Highlighters and 3-ring (1 1/2 inch) Science Binder
3-Rng (1 1/2') Science Binder Items include, but are not limited to:
Daily work—such as labs, quizzes, responses, and notes.
The binder will have a Running List as the first page to keep students organized. It serves as a Table of Contents.
The Science Binder will be graded each quarter as a major grade. Students will be allowed to use their binder while taking the assessment; therefore, it is important that they keep it neat and organized.
A list of what should be on the Running List will be posted in Google Classroom and on a wall in the classroom.
Grading Scale for Major Assessments
A= 90-100
B = 80-89
C= 70-79
D= 60-69
F= 50-59
Summative/Major Assessments: Interactive Notebooks- Test-Projects = 100%
Formative Assessments: Classwork, Homework, Labs, Quizzes, Group Work, Interactive Notebook=assigned a 4, 3, 2, or 1 in accordance with the Formative Assessment Grading Policy (Formative grades DO NOT count towards a student's final grade average, but are measured on a 1-4 scale in Powerschool.)
Assignments are numbered and are found in Google Classroom.
Students can access the Assignment Calendar to keep up with assignments and homework expectations.
Tardiness will be handled as stated in the discipline plan of the Student Handbook/Planner
