Ms. Payne's Pack is growing

Hello my name is Kayla Payne and I am love being apart of the Chandler Creek family! I graduated in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from Southern Wesleyan University. I am beginning my 8th year of teaching in Greenville County and my 4th year of being in 1st grade at Chandler Creek!

Teaching has always held a special place in my heart! For one of my fondest memories as a child was coming home from school and pretending to be a teacher with my Nana. I love watching children learn and grow each year, but my favorite part about being a teacher is building positive relationships with my students, their families, and my school community. Another thing my students, their families, and our extended school family will quickly learn about me is besides building relationships I also believe that it important to teach my students the value of being respectful to everyone they meet. The reason why this virtue of being respectful is important to me is because I was born with achondroplasia dwarfism, which just means my arms and legs are shorter than most adults. I love that I was born with dwarfism, for it allows me to spread awareness and educate others that we are all uniquely made!

I recently moved to Pelzer. My family consist of myself, "my bigsister," Martha, and our 2 fur babies our Grace (5 year old, black/tan chiweenie) and Betty (1 year old, white, chiweenie).

Some of my favorite things to do afterschool besides spending time with my family, include finding waterfalls, playing games, watching tv/movies, and cheering on the Atlanta Braves.
