Classroom Discipline

Discipline Policy

Behavior is a priority for success! I have high expectations and look forward to ensuring that each student reaches their full potential. It is my goal that each student will gain heightened academic knowledge as well as important life skills and attributes through a safe and welcoming environment.

Individual Discipline Policy:

We will be using Class Dojo in order to monitor individual behavior. The students will be given an online avatar through Class Dojo to keep track of the number of points earned for good behavior throughout the school day. Points will be rewarded for such behaviors as following directions, good manners, hallway behavior, helping others, on task, participating, teamwork, and working hard. Points will be lost for such inappropriate behaviors as disrespect, disruptive, negative hallway behavior, no homework, off task, talking, and unprepared. The students will be rewarded for earning positive points with such rewards as: shoeless Joe, wear your favorite hat, free movement, class helper, rolling chair, line leader, and lunch with a friend. Each reward will be explained in more detail during class time. Each parent will receive an information sheet outlining their parent login code upon the beginning weeks of the school year so that they have the opportunity to monitor their child’s behavior daily. I encourage you to use the app to monitor your child’s behavior so that you are aware of your child’s strengths and areas of improvement throughout each school day. The app allows you to view a breakdown of the points received and lost for your child. Please contact me at any point regarding your child’s behavior progress.

Whole Class Discipline Policy:

The entire class will have the opportunity to “Pop to the Top” by earning gumballs. Once the entire gumball machine is full, the entire class has earned a reward. Gumballs are earned for good behavior and lost for poor choices.
