Welcome to Spanish class! I am very glad that you have decided to take Spanish and that you are interested in learning a foreign language. However, learning a foreign language requires more than just being interested. Learning a foreign language is a life-long process, which demands a big commitment from you as a student.
Learning to speak, to read, to write and to understand Spanish is hard. In fact it is very hard for most people. In all other courses, you have been given a strong background. For example, you have been working with math for more than ten years. You understand the vocabulary (add, subtract, etc.) You have had tons of practice working with numbers. The concepts are not foreign to you because you have understood them for so many years. In Spanish, you come in knowing maybe a little, but none of the foundation you have had in other subjects. You are practically learning from scratch.
Therefore, it is crucial that you study and work hard from day one. I am here to help you and to insure that you are learning. Please never hesitate to ask questions or seek extra help before or after school. I will be more than happy to assist you!
Sincerely,
Mr. Campbell
