When Chromebooks are issued, students also receive a charge cord and power adapter. These charging cables are considered part of the Chromebook, and are the student's responsibility to care for and keep up with.
Students are asked to come to school with their Chromebook fully charged. Students should not bring their charging cables to school. Doing so reduces the chance of the cable being lost, taken, or broken. Instead, students should have a "charging station" at home where they plug in and charge their device every night. (We recommend having this near their backpack so they don't forget it in the morning!)
Students should NOT charge their cell phone, AirPods or any other electronic devices using their Chromebook. This can damage the Chromebook's battery. Any student who is found charging their cell phone, Airpods or other electronic devices with their Chromebook could face disiplanary action and/or be charged to repair/replace the Chromebook's battery.
The student is responsible for their assigned Chromebook and charger. They know best when it is not working properly. It is the student's responsibility to report damages or malfunctions immediately upon realizing something is wrong. Failure to do so could ultimately cause further damage or safety issues.
Parents/guardians and teachers who notice damage on a student device are asked to report the damage to Mrs. Barker via email pbarker@greenville.k12.sc.us as soon as possible.
The student reports Chromebook damages immediately and turns it in for repair. The student may be responsible for repair costs depending on the damage.
The student reports Chromebook damages immediately and turns it in for repair. The student may be supplied with a loaner Chromebook (based on availability) until their assigned device is repaired. 3 or more Intentional breaks will result in disciplinary action.
The cost of repairs for *intentional damage* are the responsibility of the student. The cost will be for the parts required to repair the device. Labor is not factored into this cost.
