Many kids say that they have no time for homework, no time for studying, and no time for organizing; often, these are the same students who are failing subjects or repeating grades in school.

If you and your family will choose to follow these guidelines CONSISTENTLY, the odds are really high that you will see a change and improvement with your student. Consistency counts!

Hacking Reading and Comprehension

Reading Times – Have your child set a CONSISTENT reading time each night.

Smart people tend to read each day. Practice is crucial, and the student should choose the reading - interesting really counts. :)

If your goal is to change your student's relationship with reading, experts say this is the way to go...

Have the whole family participate in a reading time for 20 minutes each night. Kids do what is important to their families, and reading NOVELS, actual BOOKS, is an important kind of reading and thinking for students and adults. You could choose to have your middle school student read independently, read with or to the family, or read to other siblings. Consistency is the key. Reading will become the normal in your home.
