I was born and raised in Greenville County. I have been part of the Southside “family” since 1998. I have a twenty-four-year-old daughter who is my pride and joy! She graduated from Clemson University in December 2022 and got married last June!

I graduated from Blue Ridge High School in 1994 and ventured to the “big city” of Newberry, SC to attend Newberry College. I graduated from Newberry College in 1998 with a BA in English with Secondary Certification and a minor in Spanish. I completed my Master's Degree at Southern Wesleyan University in 2010.

This year marks my 28th year at Southside High School! In the fall of 1998, I began my teaching career at SHS. I taught English (and several other things, including Spanish I) for my first six years at Southside. I spent the next two years working part-time as the GE Grant Assistant Coordinator. I spent one year substituting at Southside. I returned to Southside full-time in the fall of 2007 to teach Test Prep.  I returned to the English classroom in 2009, teaching English 1, Accelerated Reading, and Test Prep.  I taught English 2 for six years.  I returned to my ninth-grade roots and taught the Ready for High School Literacy Course. I have also taught the Film Criticism elective course for our department.  I returned to teaching English 2 in 2019 and loved every minute of helping students explore concepts in World Literature. This year I am continuing my journey as an instructor in the Future Teachers Academy for GCS. This is my eleventh year serving as the adviser for the SHS Invictus Yearbook as well.  Besides working with students one-on-one in the classroom, it is my favorite part of my job! I love having the opportunity to share my love of Southside High School with everyone! You very rarely see me at school events without my camera!

I am looking forward to another exciting year at SHS!! Change is upon us and I hope it is our best year yet.
