Coach McGuffee

I graduated from the University of South Carolina in the spring of 2011,  with a Bachelors of Science in Physical Education. I also have a Master Degree in Administration from the University of Anderson. This is my eighth year at Heritage Elementary, and my 11th year teaching in Greenville County School District.   I love all types of physical activity, especially if it can be done outside. I am married to my wife, Jen. We have a son named Colton and a daughter named Ellie Grace, as well as a husky named Cody.  We all love to go camping, hiking, fishing, kayaking, Boating,  road biking, mountain biking and running.  I am very excited to have the opportunity to teach students the importance of being healthy and active and love to model this in my life daily.

My Philosophy Statement:

As an educator I believe that each and every student has the potential to offer unique and special skills to help influence the world we live in.  I am dedicated to helping each student to reach their potential and to reach above and beyond their limits by guiding them as well as believing in them as capable individuals.  It is a joy to assist students in discovering who they are, so that they can express their own opinions and cultivate their own ideas.  I stand behind and support my students to motivate them to strive towards success but am also there to influence them positively if they happen to stumble. I believe that teachers can make the greatest impact in students' lives through encouragement, guidance, and by showing respect. In turn, I have many expectations for my students and am hoping that I can influence the children that I encounter by instructing them on how to respect, accept, encourage, support, and embrace the diversity within the society that we live in. Our differences are the core of what makes our lives so unique.
