I am originally from Louisiana, where I lived until graduating from high school. I moved to Arkansas afterwards where I attended Ouachita Baptist University where I earned my Bachelors in Biology. After college I moved to Atlanta for graduate school where I studied Neuroscience at Georgia State University. Throughout my educational career I considered myself a scientist at heart, but at every turn, I was confronted with the fact that I found intense gratification in teaching. I was selected to lead science tutoring programs in college and asked to teach undergraduate courses while at Georgia State. Eventually I was offered a teaching position in Atlanta (which I initially only accepted reluctantly) and have found it to be more satisfying than I could have ever imagined. I taught a variety of science disciplines over the course of 9 years in Atlanta before moving to Greenville. I am now in my 7th year as a Bulldog and I am looking forward to another outstanding year!
I do lead a double life, however...
You aren't likely to bump into me outside of school, as I spend most of my free time exploring the outdoors. I am an avid whitewater kayaker and I love the river so much that I actually spend my summers guiding whitewater rafts so that I can be on the water as much as possible. There is a an old saying that if you do what you love, you'll never work a day in your life and I have found, between the classroom and the river, that could not be more true. I also call myself a mountain biker, climber, and fly fisher. I even sponsor a rock climbing team here at Berea High School (for those interested in participating, come see me ASAP)!
