Greenville County Schools has issued students grades 4K-12 with a Chromebook. These devices are part of the Personalized Learning Initiative where instruction is aligned to students learning needs, tailored for various learning preferences and student's specific interest and co-designed by students to set learning goals, planning learning paths, tracking progress and demonstrating learning.
Students should not have an expectation of privacy in the use of the District's email, systems, or equipment. The District may, for a legitimate reason, perform the following:
Obtain emails sent or received on District email.
Monitor an individual's use on the District's systems.
Confiscate and/or search District-owned software or equipment.
Each Chromebook is installed with a device that can track the location of the Chromebook even if the device is not powered on with battery charge.
Chromebooks are on loan to you!! Like a library book- you will return it to the library at the end of the year or before you leave the school.
Chromebooks must remain free of any writing, drawing, stickers, or labels that are not the property of BGE or GCS.
Cyberbullying is not acceptable in or out of school.
Teachers can spot check your computer if there is a concern.
Students will only download/install authorized applications, games, or software that is allowed by the school.
