Hello and Welcome to 8th grade!
About me:
Welcome to 8th grade Science at Hughes Academy. I am Ms. Hyde. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to teach your student. It is my goal to prepare your child for high school and beyond. This is my 33rd year at Hughes Academy and 39th year teaching 8th grade Science! I received my undergrad degree and Master's of Science from the University of Mississippi. My Science Specialists degree was awarded from Furman University.
We will be using a variety of resources in class. Students will be using a classroom textbook this year; Elevate Science published by SAVVAS Learning Company. Each student will have their own copy of the text which will be kept in the classroom for easy access. We will be conducting many hands-on and inquiry labs/activities this year. Students will need a 3 ring binder with paper, pencils and colored pencils daily. Students need to review their Science assignments and study a minimum of 15 minutes each evening. Homework is given occasionally and must be completed by the beginning of class the following day.
