Subject: Pre-Calculus
Teacher: Mrs. Snow
Dear Student and Parents,
Welcome back to school! I am looking forward to getting to know you and working with you. I would like to make you aware of each student’s responsibilities in this class. Passing the course depends of successful fulfillment of these responsibilities. Each student should have a textbook, 3-ring binder with loose-leaf paper, graph paper, and a pencil
I expect each student to concentrate on the material being taught, ask questions pertinent to the lesson, listen to questions and answers of others, and take an active part in class discussion. If your child needs extra help, please encourage them to seek it. Extra individual help is given during class while students are working. I will also help students before school, if needed. These arrangements need to be made in advance. Each student’s grade can be maximized if they follow directions, work carefully, write clearly, and keep up with daily assignments.
If a student is absent, they are responsible for make-up work. This work must be completed within five school days of the excused absence. Otherwise, a zero will be assigned. Because no new material is covered the day before a test, if a student is absent from class the day before a test, she will be required to take the test with the rest of the class. It is the responsibility of the student to arrange a make-up time if a test is missed.
Homework is assigned regularly. It is as important as classwork. I will assign mostly odd numbered problems, and I expect the student to check their answers in the back of the book. Students should know and be able to tell parents if they completed the homework successfully. If a student is absent, it is their responsibility to copy and complete the missing assignment.
The official school grading scale will be followed. Your nine weeks grade will come from tests, quizzes, and homework. Grades will be calculated as follows: tests 60%, quizzes 30%, and homework 10%. When projects are assigned, students will be informed in advance if they count as a quiz or test.
If a problem arises, please call or email me as soon as possible. My email address is asnow@greenvillek12.sc.us. The telephone number at the school is 355-7800. If you prefer, you can set up a conference by calling the guidance department.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Snow
