Social-Emotional Learning (SEL)
Grade Level: Middle School (specify 6th, 7th, or 8th grade)
Course Description: This course will focus on developing students' social and emotional competencies to enhance their personal growth, relationships, and academic success.

Class Goals
Students will develop self-awareness, including identifying their strengths, weaknesses, and emotions.
Students will learn to manage their emotions and behaviors effectively.
Students will improve their social awareness, including empathy and understanding diverse perspectives.
Students will build strong relationship skills, such as communication, collaboration, and conflict resolution.
Students will make responsible decisions, considering the consequences of their actions.
These 5 competencies will be taught throughout all 4 quarters of the year.
Understanding emotions, strengths, and challenges.
Developing a growth mindset and positive self-talk.
Practicing mindfulness and self-reflection.
Managing emotions and stress.
Setting goals and developing strategies for achieving them.
Practicing self-control and delaying gratification.

Class Discussions: Facilitate open and respectful conversations about SEL
Role-Playing: Offer students opportunities to practice social skills in simulated scenarios.
Journaling: Encourage students to reflect on their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
Group Projects: Foster collaboration and teamwork through SEL-focused activities.
Presentations: Allow students to share their learning and insights with the class.
